I love to draw.
From my humble beginnings of doodling intricate, underground mazes filled
with treasures (and almost certain death), to discovering watercolor, pen
and ink, and eventually how to marry my spontaneous pencil sketches with
digital color, the drive has always been the same: to get a positive reaction
from people. A laugh, a glint of recognition, a spark of the hidden joke
coming to the surface. I do draw for my own enjoyment; the process, from
problem-solving, to the sketching, erasing and more sketching, to the scanning,
and finally the color, is what really gets the juices flowing for me. But
I also look forward to the back and forth, the interaction of someone with
my art, and what they have to say about it.
I have a BFA in illustration from Syracuse University,
where I studied with many of the best in the business: Roger Demuth, John
Thompson, Murray Tinkelman, Yvonne Buchanan, Dave DeVries, Marty Blake,
and Bob Dacey. I currently live in Chicago and I have been doing freelance
illustration for 6 years. Some of my clients include Sterling Publishing
in NYC, Northbrook Court Mall in Northbrook, Illinois, and Keystroke Graphics,
a design firm in Naperville, Illinois.
I can quickly sketch out ideas for on-the-spot visualization.
I am an expert at using Adobe Illustrator, Adobe PhotoShop, Quark Xpress,
and just about any piece of software you can install on a Macintosh. I have
backgrounds in using most of the Macromedia software: Dreamweaver, Flash,
(both web design) and Director (animation and CD-ROM creation). I also have
storyboarding and some videography experience.
I enjoy animated, humorous, character-driven projects, but I have the talents
and skills to illustrate just about anything. |
